Competition Winners

Congratulations to the winners of our recent competition held to mark World Book Day and Literacy Week in school.

Reading Together

On Thursday 7th March as part of our World Book Day activities, all of our Nursery - Year 7 pupils engaged in a Reading Together session. This involved our older pupils reading and sharing stories with our younger pupils.

Ulster Scots History

On Tuesday 30th January our KS2 pupils enjoyed a visit from David of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland who took the time to explain to our KS2 pupils about some of the uniform & artillery that the Williamite & Jacobean armies would have used in 1690. Many thanks to Elaine from West Tyrone Ulster Scots - Derry & Raphoe Action for organising the event.

The Amazing Journey

On Wednesday 17th January, Yr 1-7 pupils enjoyed a visit from 'The Amazing Journey' team. During the visit they learned more about the Bible, met some biblical characters and tasted some food that is mentioned in the Bible. Thank you to the team for paying us a visit.

Cooley Primary School and Nursery Unit recently held an amnesty event when school families and staff were able to exchange their deep fat fryer for an air fryer.

The school were successful in securing funding from Electrical Safety First and used it to hold a fire safety week in school. During the week, various activities were held including classroom based and home learning activities which all aimed to help deliver key messages regarding fire safety.

To help improve fire safety in the home, school families were offered the opportunity to exchange their deep fat fryer for a safer alternative - an air fryer..

Not so Serious Burns

Yr 1-7 enjoyed the production of 'Not so Serious Burns'. An enjoyable and interactive way to learn about the life of Robert Burns. Many thanks to the Ulster Scots Agency for organising this event.
