April/May/June 2026 Curriculum Overview
April – Easter & Springtime on the Farm
Our nursery children will step into the exciting world of the farm as we celebrate Easter and the arrival of spring. Through hands-on exploration, storytelling, sensory play, and outdoor learning, children will discover farm animals, learn about farm safety, and investigate how new life begins on the farm through baby animals and planting activities.
Children will explore:
- Farm life and caring for animals
- Spring growth, planting, and new beginnings
- Healthy foods and where food comes from
- Farm safety and the importance of caring for our environment
- Mathematical learning through capacity and measuring activities
Our imaginative Role Play Area will encourage communication, teamwork, and early mathematical skills, while our exciting Easter Chick Hunt will provide opportunities for problem-solving, exploration, and fun outdoor learning.
May – Life Cycles & Mini Beasts
This month, our young learners become curious scientists as they investigate the fascinating life cycles of butterflies and frogs. Children will observe change over time, explore nature, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them through exciting outdoor adventures and hands-on discovery.
Learning experiences will include:
- Observing and identifying the life cycles of butterflies and frogs
- Exploring plants, flowers, and natural habitats
- Investigating mini beasts and their environments
- Developing early mathematical thinking through patterns
- Creative learning in our interactive Role Play Area
Special experiences this month include:
- An exciting Adventure Walk to explore nature firsthand
June – Under the Sea & Moving to Primary School
In June, children will dive into an exciting underwater adventure as they explore sea creatures, ocean sounds, holidays, weather, and water safety. This topic inspires curiosity, imagination, and creativity while also supporting children through their important transition to Primary 1.
Children will explore:
- Sea animals and underwater habitats
- Sounds of the sea and sensory exploration
- Holidays, summer weather, and seasonal clothing
- Water safety and the important roles of lifeguards and deep-sea divers
- Comparing sea and land creatures through investigation and discussion
- Mathematical learning through patterns and problem-solving
Our immersive Role Play Area will spark imaginative play and communication skills as children share holiday experiences and explore seaside adventures.
As the school year comes to a close, we will celebrate our children’s achievements and support their transition to Primary 1 through:
- Sports Day
- Nursery Graduation Celebration
- Visits from the P1 Teacher
- Visits to the Primary 1 Classroom to help children feel confident, excited, and ready for their next learning journey.
